Holy Mass and Confession

Saint Joseph Academy is pleased to offer the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS), a Montessori-inspired, child-centered approach to religious formation rooted in Scripture, the Liturgy, and the contemplative life. Children engage with hands-on materials in a prayerful, prepared environment (called the atrium), where they are invited to listen to God’s Word, reflect on liturgical symbols, and explore their relationship with Jesus the Good Shepherd whose voice they are called to follow. 


Start Date: September 11, 2025

Schedule: After school, Level II - Thursdays, Level I - Fridays

Location: Room 205

In this approach:

  • The catechist presents Scripture, parables, and liturgical gestures in a gentle, exploratory way that “calls forth” the child’s response rather than dictating content.
  • The atmosphere encourages silence, wonder, and independent work, fostering the child’s interior dialogue with God. 
  • The method respects each child’s developmental stage, offering age-appropriate entrances into the mysteries of God through the Christian tradition. 
  • Adults (catechists) receive careful formation in this method, helping them to prepare the environment, present materials, and accompany children in their spiritual journey. 


At Saint Joseph Academy, CGS is offered as after-school Level I & Level II programs (beginning September 2025). It provides a deeply reverent and invitational way for children to form their spiritual life, engage the mysteries of faith, and grow in their personal relationship with God.
