AcaDeca; Volleyball; Football!

Dear SJA Community,

SJA has had two major successes this week. In the age of COVID, these successes are all the more sweet. We’re also looking forward to two more over this weekend!

Last Saturday, our Middle School Academic Decathletes—our youngest team ever—demonstrated the fruits of their hard work studying for the annual diocesan Academic Decathlon. They won third place in the Logic Quiz, placed (1st-3rd) in several individual competitions, won in the SuperQuiz competition, and won the overall Decathlon! What an accomplishment to win despite the extra difficulties of competing over zoom! Congratulations to the Decathletes and thanks also to our wonderful coaches!

This past Wednesday, our High School girls Volleyball team competed in the SJA's first CIF competition since the onset of the pandemic. Volleyball games play 3 to 5 sets, and our girls completely cleaned house! They won in only three sets! Congratulations to our High School Volleyball team and their coaches!

Today, we have our second big CIF competition. Our Football team is skirmishing against San Diego Jewish Academy at 3:00pm today (early in order to respect the Jewish Sabbath rules). Next week, they’ll have their first game. Tomorrow, our Academic Decathlon will compete in the National Competition (as the only school from San Diego Diocese). Please pray for our academic and sports competitors!
