For-Credit Summer Courses

Dear SJA Families,

We’re still working on organizing and publishing the options for summer camps, but we have the for-credit summer courses available. Those courses, dates, and instructors are listed below. The cost is $300 per student, per course. However, please do not let the cost prevent your student(s) from participating. If cost is an issue, please contact the course instructor.


Seminar: Shakespeare's Histories (Honors)

Instructor: Mr. Hudson

An elective, for-credit honors seminar course focusing on two of Shakespeare’s histories: Henry IV, Part 1 and Richard III. This course will meet for two weeks, Monday - Friday, June 21 - July 2, 10:00 a.m. - noon. Applications are due June 1. Please note: Approximately 30 minutes of reading will be required in preparation for each discussion. This course is open to rising sophomores through seniors only.


Seminar: Shakespeare's Comedies II (Honors)

Instructor: Mr. Hudson

An elective, for-credit honors seminar course focusing on two of Shakespeare’s comedies: Twelfth Night and Love's Labor's Lost. This course will meet for two weeks, Monday - Friday, July 19-30, 10:00 a.m. - noon. Applications are due July 1. Please note: Approximately 30 minutes of reading will be required in preparation for each discussion. This course is open to rising sophomores through seniors only. 

New Testament Theology I: The Synoptic Gospels (Honors)

Instructor: Mr. Heintschel

An elective, for-credit honors course focusing on a close reading of the first three Gospels in tandem with the rest of Scripture, other texts from the early Church Fathers, St. Thomas Aquinas, and other saints and scholars. This course will meet for two weeks, Monday-Friday, June 21-July 2, 1:00 pm-3:00pm. Applications are due June 1. Please note: Approximately 30 minutes of reading will be required in preparation for each class session. This course is open to rising freshmen through seniors.


New Testament Theology II: The Gospel of John (Honors)

Instructor: Mr. Heintschel

An elective, for-credit honors course focusing on a close reading of the Gospel of John in tandem with the rest of Scripture, other texts from the early Church Fathers, St. Thomas Aquinas, and other saints and scholars. This course will meet for two weeks, Monday-Friday, July 19-30, 1:00 pm-3:00pm. Please note: Approximately 30 minutes of reading will be required in preparation for each class session. (New Testament Theology I is not a pre-requisite for this course.) This course is open to rising freshmen through seniors.
